Capcom has released the highly-anticipated Resident Evil Village for mobile devices through the streaming service Google Stadia, meaning you can now play the latest horror extraordinaire on any support mobile device.

Resident Evil Village is the eighth major installment to the iconic horror series and a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It takes place in a remote village somewhere in Europe, where you play as Ethan Winters once again who is pursuing Chris Redfield for answers and soon finds himself in another nightmare.

Because of the returning characters such as Ethan and Chris, it helps to have a small understanding of the series and it’s definitely recommended to have at least played Resident Evil 7 beforehand. If you’re a Stadia Pro member, this game was available to grab last month.

Resident Evil Village also includes nods to older entries in the series. There’s a merchant character who shows up periodically who will sell you items and upgrade your weapons, much like the very iconic Merchant from Resident Evil 4, while the whole visuals of the game seem to take inspiration from that game too.

But in terms of gameplay it’s closer to Resident Evil 7 than anything else, featuring the tight-knit, intimate horror achieved through its first-person perspective, creepy character designs, and advanced RE Engine structure.
