Mystery with my Friend is an LGTBQ+ visual novel out now on iOS and Android

Mystery with my Friend, a mystery visual novel game with LGBTQ+ themes and characters, is out now globally after originally launching in Japan on iOS and Android devices.

It’s an app developed with you being able to enjoy mysteries in the palm of your hands. Set amidst every day school life, a private library, a café in a port town, and a London street corner, these stories follow detectives as they build relationships with other characters and discover more about themselves as they solve cases.

The game comes during a time when diversity and representation is becoming increasingly important, and Mystery with my Friend places an emphasis on telling contemporary LGBTQ+ stories in a dramatically changing world. These stories include queer men, women, and non-binary individuals.

Mystery with my Friend is intended as a platform for writers of queer stories to be continuously added and it’s marvellous to see something like this exists. The app features writers such as the up-and-coming Saji Sasaki (aka Sasasa) who won the Readers’ Award in the Fourth Kadokawa Bunko Character Novel Awards, and Higma, whose work includes broadcast television drama and mystery anime.

Right now you can enjoy the main stories of each detective pair for free, and you don’t need to pay to finish experiencing the whole thing. There are also sub-stories available to access in-game which are more about the characters’ daily lives and smaller incidents they encounter, but these are paid items from the in-app shop or are given out as part of events,

We could always use more games including stories with queer characters, and so if you want to check it out for yourself you can download Mystery with my Friend now from the iOS App Store or the Google Play for Android store. It is a free to play title containing in-app purchases.
