City Builder Puzzle Challenge is, unsurprisingly, a puzzle game from independent developer Almost a BoardGame, a photographer who turned their hand to game development. It's available now for Android devices as a free-to-play game.

City Builder is intended to be a mixture between a puzzle and city-building/simulation game. It tasks players will having to solve a number of puzzles by creating different buildings that have been requested. All the while, they will have to manage the city's resources and keep its populace happy.

Each building players create will affect the city or the other buildings surrounding it. For instance, living next to a factory will make people sad but a shop will raise their spirits. So it becomes a balancing act of trying to build what's required whilst keeping the population happy.

The developer has described the game as being a Sim City style game but on a much smaller scale with a puzzle loop that's easy to understand but hard to master. There are over 100 of them to create throughout the game with 2 high score focused Challenge modes also available. You can check out some gameplay from City Builder Puzzle Challenge in the embedded trailer above.

The game also includes a few neat additional features such as an in-game camera that allows you to get up close and personal with the miniature world you've created. It has no real effect on gameplay but I like the idea of being able to visit my city.

City Builder Puzzle Challenge is available now over on Google Play. It's a free-to-play title that's supported by in-game adverts.
