Funko Pop! Blitz has had a new crossover, and this time it’s adding the characters from the acclaimed ‘80s teen film The Breakfast Club.

From now until 27th January, pencil and paper items appear on the board in every match of Funko Pop! Blitz. Furthermore, the iconic characters from the 1985 film appear as new Unique Event Pops. This includes Andrew Clark, Brian Johnson, Allison Reynolds, Claire Standish and John Bender who can all be unboxed this week, as well as a bonus sixth character, Richard Vernon the teacher from the film.

The Breakfast Club was directed by John Hughes and released in 1985. It’s an excellent teen coming-of-age film with sparks of both comedy and drama to form part of an iconic slate of ‘80s nostalgia, and has been included in a countless amount of "best-of" film lists.

Most notably, the film contained themes of the struggles American teenagers go through during high school, including the societal pressure to fit in, the condescending expectations of their parents, and the stereotyping of each clique.

Funko Pop Blitz is the match-3 puzzler which features iconic characters from various iconic franchises, with each one rotated on a weekly basis. Past collaborations have included Shrek, Parks and Recreation, Back to the Future, The Office, and How to Train Your Dragon. One of my favourite things about Friday is logging in to see what new crossover is awaiting me.

You can download Funko Pop! Blitz and access the Breakfast Club content now from the iOS App Store and Google Play for Android. It’s a free to play title containing in-app purchases.

And once you’re done, don’t forget to fist pump triumphantly at the very end!
