Honkai Impact 3rd has announced an upcoming collaboration with the popular anime Neon Genesis Evangelion

Following Honkai Impact 3rd's more unusual crossover a few weeks back with Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva they're back with another more typical collaboration. Their latest will be a crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The crossover itself is set to arrive for iOS, Android and PC on January 21st or 22nd, depending on your location, with details on what to expect being fairly sparse at the moment. miHoYo has released a concept trailer for the upcoming collaboration, however, which you can check out in the embedded video below.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a popular anime franchise that first started way back in 1995 and has grown in popularity since then. It received a new animated film series in 2007 which extended the franchise's reach to a younger generation and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Discussing the series and the upcoming collaboration, miHoYo's CEO Liu Wei said: “Neon Genesis Evangelion is a monumental work in the history of anime. Its core resonates with that of Honkai Impact 3rd as both Valkyries and NERV are ordained to fight for the world."

They added: "Evangelion has remained hugely successful for decades. The unprecedented level of anticipation for the latest movie proves the quality of the content released over the years to cater to its fans. I'm very excited about our upcoming collaboration because it can create something genuinely unique."

If you're unfamiliar with Honkai Impact 3rd, it's an action-RPG that has proven incredibly popular since it first launched having racked up over 200 million downloads worldwide.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
