A Monster's Expedition is a unique way to approach a puzzle game. You play the role of a monster and go through a collection of small islands that operate as a museum. Funnily enough, this museum was created by other monsters, discussing the silly history and behaviors of human beings.

The Apple Arcade exclusive's artwork is lovely to look at, and the game provides a challenge while also being pretty relaxing as well. There is no real tutorial besides the brief introduction they give you at the first two islands or so when entering the game.

Thankfully there's no timer or anything to worry about so you can simply take your time and enjoy the experience. We'll give you a few tips to help you with your adventure through the archipelago museum.

Use The Grid

In A Monster's Expedition, there is a little grid setting that you can use. When traversing through the different small islands, you can use things like trees to help you get across the water. You need to move the trees around to the point where they are in the proper position.

The grid can be used to help you get the items you need to guide. You can't go in a diagonal direction so that's kind of where the grid can be most helpful. It's not something you would probably leave on too long before turning it off, but it can give you an idea of things when starting out.

Remember that this is a puzzle game. And the grid in some ways can be viewed as a puzzle board, only, you aren't filling in the blank spots, but using them as a guide. So feel free to give it a try and see if you like it.

Reset The Island if Needed

This is more of a mental note, but when playing A Monster's Expedition, you may find yourself kind of lost with where to place your trees. If you lose a sense of direction, feel free to hit that nifty "Restart Island" button at the top right corner of the screen.

And if you hit it by accident, then you can tap the "Undo" button to go back to where you had the tree placed before. Early on, if you knock a tree into the water, the game will tell you to undo it, giving you a little bit of a boost.

Resetting the island is a great way to sort of "clean up". When you do, go ahead and scout the island before knocking the tree down. This way, you'll know where to direct it right off the bat. So definitely take advantage of what is a small, yet helpful feature.

Take Your Time

A Monster's Expedition is one of those games that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy. Although it can be a tad frustrating at times, don't let it get to you. Just take your time going from island to island. It's not a game you need to zip through.

Utilize the grid, get used to how the controls work, and adventure away. Puzzles games are meant to test the mind and A Monster's Expedition is no exception. Try and plan ahead when you reach each island if you can so that way, you can have a better idea of what to do.

Once you get comfortable with everything, it will seem like a piece of cake. Aside from that, just enjoy the calm nature of the game as you explore this interesting world with your monster friend.
