The inaugural PUBG Mobile Global Championship will take place in November with a prize pool of 2 million USD

The upcoming 1.0 update for PUBG Mobile isn't the only news regarding the popular battle royale today. They've also announced that the first PUBG MOBILE Global Championship or PMGC will take place in late November, pitting the top teams against each other with a prize pool of $2 million up for grabs.

This esports tournament looks to combine both the PUBG MOBILE World League (PMWL) and World Championship into one event. Season Zero of PMGC will include competitors from all of the regions including the Americas, Europe, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and China.

Naturally, an on-site audience might not be possible for the event but if it is safe to do so, the event will take place across multiple studios. Either way by the end of the tournament the inaugural PUBG MOBILE Global Champions will be crowned. With the best of the best competing, it should provide excellent viewing for PUBG Mobile esports fans.

James Yang , director of PUBG MOBILE Global Esports, discussed the upcoming event. He said: "Following the success of PUBG MOBILE World League Season Zero, we knew we had to come up with an idea that would raise the bar even higher and create something truly extraordinary to close out the first year of our new esports program.”

He added: “2020 has been a huge challenge for everyone, and we hope to bring positivity and encouragement to the world through gaming and esports. We wanted to invite more regions than ever before to create a spectacular, highly competitive event for players and the community to enjoy around the globe.”

PUBG Mobile is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
