Grand Mountain Adventure: Tips for this beautiful snowboarding open world
The slopes are a playground.
Grand Mountain Adventure is an open-world snowboard and skiing game where you can compete with others and complete different challenges on the slopes. It's played from a birds-eye camera view and features some lovely graphics that fits any mobile screen perfectly.
It was also one of the games showcased at our first ever LaunchPad event which I highly recommend that you check out the hub for. It was highlighted due to a new update that allows you to enjoy multiplayer action, really enhancing the overall experience.
The game is fun and can be very relaxing as well and is similar to Alto's Odyssey. Sometimes it can provide a challenge, but overall it's a very nice, and comforting experience. And it's fun if you're a general sports fan too. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of this winter wonderland.
Steering is speed
One way to make the Grand Mountain Adventure experience even more fun is by picking up the speed. You need to steer back and forth between the right and left to get yourself going. From there, you'll be causing through the snowy landscape.
Keep on turning and you'll be going a little faster. And finding some good starting points will help you gain that speed too. On top of anything else, just wiggling back and forth with the steering controls is just fun. Plus, mastering this skill will help you greatly with challenges.
But feel free to take your time. If you don't want to go too fast, then that's totally fine. The only time where it may be necessary to go as fast as you can is during events, challenges, etc. Other than that, it's a good laid back game where you can just enjoy the slopes.
Don't hesitate to brake
Losing control on a track? Saw something that caught your eye in free mode? Then feel free to pump the brakes a bit. I know that in certain competitions, speed is king, but sometimes you need to tap the brake button to regain full control of your character.
Practice your brake timing and know when to hold it down for certain periods of time. Tap on if you want to straighten yourself out or control your pace. Or, you can hold it down if you want to come to a complete stop at different points.
There are times where you do just want to stop and look at the snowy landscape. Yes, the camera view is almost top-down, but you can appreciate all of the frost, small structures, and other skiers that are around you. Feel free to ski slowly if you want to move while you relax.
Jump around
In any kind of extreme sports game, we all love performing tricks, am I right? Well, you can get some air in Grand Mountain Adventure. No, you can't execute super twisty kind of tricks, but you can get in some nice jumps.
You can jump at any time, but when you see a ramp or something that you know will give you the opportunity to fly, then go ahead and take off. You, after all, are a bird, and those skis you're wearing? Those are your wings. So flap those wings and reach for the sky
Steer and jump at the same time and you can end up with a nice little trick (see, there, they are possible). Practice makes perfect though, so feel free to reset yourself on paths that you went through already to work on pretty much everything that we talked about including jumping. Just don't forgot to have a good, relaxing time.
