Super Gigadroid is a fairly fast-paced space shooter. You play through a few different planets where the missions take place. These being Mercury, Earth, and Neptune. You start out with Mercury and work your way to Neptune.

The game brings back some memories of the games of old like Metroid. This is a reason why it (at the time of this writing) is listed among our top 22 free games to play on iPhone, iPad, and Android. It can be tricky initially, but it's just a matter of getting used to the controls which are actually pretty straight forward.

It has a run and gun style to it but also operates as a platformer too also similar to Metroid. So not only do you need to shoot your way through, but you'll need to jump too. We'll give you some tips on how to deal with the interstellar ghouls and monsters as you traverse.

Jumping can be tricky

Remember, as much as Super Gigadroid is a shooter, it's also like a platformer. But, jumping isn't as easy as you think. Starting out, don't be surprised if you miss some platforms. There's no double jump or anything either so you just have to get as comfortable with it as you can.

The jump button is planted right next to the shooting button so there are times where you might fire your gun by accident while you make your hops. This isn't a bad thing, as you never know what enemies might be out of your reach, so jumping and shooting is actually a fair strategy, even if done accidentally.

Enemies are in high places a lot, so that's where this really comes in handy. But, if you need to work on timing, take out the enemies in the first level and just practice hopping from platform to platform. Practice makes perfect as they say, and it's definitely true here because timely jumps can save you from losing Energy (health).

Few ways to shoot

Aside from the usual straight shot, there are a couple of other ways to fire your weapon. By aiming up, you can shoot it upwards while down obviously makes you shoot downward. This comes in handy because you don't necessarily need to be standing in front of your enemy to kill.

If it's a flying creature, then you can just point up and shoot. It helps make things a little easier in certain situations. This, especially when you need to clear a path to climb up further. Just remember to hold down on the top part of the directional button.

The buttons in Super Gigadroid can be pretty tough to see sometimes. They look pretty faded but don't worry if you slip up on hitting a button because of it. Like with controllers or keyboards, you'll be able to hit them without needing to look at your screen.

Don't miss any save points

In Super Gigadroid, checkpoints are placed throughout each planet that you play. So there's no automatic saving. But, all you need to do is land on the platform that has the save point and that's it. Certainly, that can be a bit tricky with enemies around though so be on high alert.

But this is just a reminder to do so because it can sometimes be easy to skip it and just move on. This, especially if there are still monsters around. Not to mention that you sometimes have to watch out for what's on the ground too such as lava for example.

If you are in panic mode and really need to run past the save spot, then feel free, but at your own risk. If you die without saving, then you start over at your last save point and that can suck if it's been a while. If not, then you might be OK. But in the end, it's highly recommended that you go for every save you see. Even if you die in the process, at least you know you can respawn there.
