Each level isn't an open-world per se, but they give you the ability to freely explore around as you solve puzzles and the like. Make sure to take advantage of your surroundings and keep your eyes peeled. There may be hidden chests and other things around that will carry items.
Some items might be collectibles that you can add. You probably have to whack some enemies to oblivion to get the items, but at least you're rewarded for your efforts. You also can watch out for things like areas where you can plant. If you see a spot that looks like something should be there, then go ahead and use your magic pencils.
And don't worry if you didn't grab/see everything. You can go back and play levels again at any time. This is also a great way to practice your abilities, movements, etc. Playing a familiar could certainly be beneficial.
Have fun with the customization
Arguably the game's greatest feature is its character customizer. You can draw your hero any way you want, and the game brings him/her to life. The cool thing is that you can create a bunch of them, and freely switch off between each one. If you're great at drawing on your phone, then have at it and get as creative as you can.
You can draw anything and change colors as you go. So, if you want a super colorful character then you can do that. Perhaps you want to really get stylish and create a stick figure with an outfit. This is where the different colors can really come in to play.
Have a green stick figure but want to give them a black and red football (soccer) jersey? Then go for it. Whatever you choose to create, you can end up spending a ton of time making heroes in Draw a Stickman: EPIC 3. It's safe to say that the game continues to live up to its name.
Whack enemies to a pulp and do it fast
Your health can drain pretty fast, so it's important to eliminate enemies as quickly as possible. It sounds obvious, but try not to worry about dodging as much. Just go up to the enemies give them a beatdown. Some enemies move slow but there a couple that will come at you faster.
Luckily, most foes are very easy to bring down. Just don't let them try and get you with any range-like attacks. As long as you have your pickaxe, you should make easy work on enemies. The game does play in a point-and-click style so just make sure to click right on the object you want to attack.
Whatever it is, whether it's enemies or rocks in your way, a shade of darkness will cover them when you click on them, and this will make your stickman go in for the kill. Get comfortable with that, and you'll make mincemeat of these beasts.
Grab any drops you can find
As with most games, enemies will drop items that can benefit you. Some could give you gold ink, which works essentially like currency. But then there might be some other items of worth such as health. As mentioned in the previous section, your health can drain on you in sneaky ways.
One moment you think you're at full strength, but then the next thing you know, you're down to half a heart. So if you see some health-related items, snatch them up right away. Click away to your destination and replenish yourself. You've earned it after all, right? But grab everything because you don't really have to worry about your inventory filling up so take advantage and have fun.
