In the newly released BE-A Walker, Earth is on its way out after having been dried up and ruined by us pesky humans. The hugely overpopulated planet can no longer produce the resources required for humanity to survive, and so out we go, venturing far into space in the hopes of finding somewhere else to settle… and we do.

The only problem is that our would-be Earth 2.0 already has a population of well-armed natives who you'll soon learn will not be giving up their home without a fight. And fight we do, with giant battle mechs of all things.

As the pilot of a Biped Enhanced Assault Walker (or BE-A Walker), it's your job to take down the natives and protect your fellow colonists at all costs. You'll do this by shooting, crushing, and blowing them up. It's morally repugnant in the extreme, something that developer Tequilabyte Studio aims to explore by giving you the option to side with your violent overlords or aid the natives.

It's not looking to be a carefree power fantasy, as even the simple act of controlling your mech is fraught with challenges. You'll have to get the timing just right in order to put one foot in front of the other, often while giant spears are being lobbed at you by the locals.

All told, it sounds like it could prove to be one of the more interesting, risk-taking action games we've seen hit mobile in some time. Whether it fully engages with its tricky subject matter could make or break it, however.

BE-A Walker is now available for download from over on the App Store and Google Play as a premium title priced at $4.99. PC players can also nab it from Steam.
