The new season will also see the debut of the Premier Cup

Pokemon Go's Battle League Season 2 will begin on May 11th

Pokemon Go's second Battle League season is due to start on May 11th at 1 pm PDT and will run until July 13th. It was originally due to start sooner but due to an unspecified tech issue, it has now been pushed back to next Monday. Once the new season gets underway players will be able to claim their rewards from the first.

As with the inaugural season, the leagues will rotate throughout and the CP Limit will increase. Below are the currently slated dates for each, though this is subject to change:

  • The Great League will run from 11th May – 1st June – 1500 CP Limit
  • The Ultra League will run from 1st June – 22nd June – 2500 CP limit
  • The Master League will run from 22nd June – 6th July – No CP limit
  • From July 6th - 13th July all three of the leagues will be available.

During the Master League's tenure and the period where all variants are available, there will also be the first Go Battle League Cup, the Premier Cup. It will use the same format as the Master League except that you won't be able to use Legendary or Mythical Pokemon.

There have also been a few changes to the rewards on offer whilst others will stay the same. For instance, the Pikachu Libre avatar items will remain Rank 7 rewards whilst players that finish the season at this level will earn an Elite Fast TM instead of an Elite Charged TM. For a full list of the rewards, you can head over to the Pokemon Go website.

Pokemon Go is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
