Dungeon Dogs is an upcoming idle RPG for iOS and Android from the makers of the popular Castle Cats

You might be familiar with PocApp Studios' previous game Castle Cats. It's a popular idle RPG that's been downloaded over 5 million times. Now, they've announced they'll be releasing a new game called Dungeon Dogs for iOS and Android. They've swapped out the kittens for the pups but they've kept the all-important alliteration.

Dungeon Dogs takes place in the kingdom of Lupinia where an evil cat king rules and dogs are treated like second class citizens. A group of rebels that includes hounds called Lyra, Ken and Poppy will rise up against this oppression when they discover there might be a true heir to the throne.

This will see you tackling a host of story quests that will be expanded over time. At launch, the game is set to have around 85 of them but PocApp says more will undoubtedly follow. Similarly, the game will also have regular events to keep players coming back to upgrade and battle with their canine crew.

There will be 45 different dogs to collect on release, again with more planned to be added post-launch. Once you've assembled a dog squad that you're happy with you can set them up for battle, kick back and let them do all the work. This is an idle RPG after all.

Each pupper will have a set of skills to unlock that will make them more potent in battle. On top of that, there will also be traits and costumes that you can equip them with, further increasing their strengths. If you've played Castle Cats, you'll mostly know what to expect here as Dungeon Dogs isn't looking to change the gameplay too much.

Dungeon Dogs will be available on the App Store and Google Play at some stage. There is currently no release date set in stone but we'll be sure to keep you updated. It will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.

Prefer your RPGs a little less idle? No problem, here are 25 of the best available for Android
