Through the Darkest of Times is a bleak strategy game for iOS and Android about a resistance group's struggles in Nazi Germany

Through the Darkest of Times is a strategy game set in 1933 where players will take on the role of leading a small resistance group against the Nazis. The game originally launched on Steam earlier this year but will now make its way to both iOS and Android, with pre-registers open on the latter now. There's no word on a release date just yet, however. 

Your aim in Through the Darkest of Times is to damage the Nazi regime as best you can. This will involve handing out leaflets unveiling the truth behind Nazi actions, painting messages on the walls, sabotaging, gathering more info and gaining new recruits to help your cause.

Of course, your resistance is made up of everyday people, not trained soldiers. So you won't be able to take the fight directly to the Nazi's and must, therefore, stay undercover or risk putting the members of your group will be in serious danger.

It's intended to be a historically accurate game, so you won't be changing the outcome of the war but that doesn't make your efforts any less important. Every life you manage to save through your actions is a small victory. You'll do this by planning activities and making difficult decisions.

These decisions can involve your responses to other people you meet across the game's 4 chapters or your actions in certain situations. For instance, you might find an individual in trouble with the Nazi's and whether or not you choose to step in could either save or make life worse for that person.

Regardless of the decisions, you make though you can expect the game to be fairly harrowing as it tries to emulate the struggle people face at that time. It has a very stylistic, bleak art style that certainly makes it clear this isn't going to be an emotionally enjoyable time.

Through the Darkest of Times will eventually be available on the App Store and Google Play. There's no set release date yet, however you can pre-register for the game on Google Play. It will be a premium title that costs $7.99.
