Gwent: The Witcher Card Game gets new Leader Abilities and progression system in its latest update

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game just got itself a fresh update not long after releasing for Android devices. If you're new to Gwent, you may recognise it as the mini-game from the super popular The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

With The Witcher having such large game worlds and deep stories, it's easy to overlook the tiny card game. Now, it has become a hit and a standalone game by itself. The mobile ports follow on from the console and PC release.

It has also become pretty popular in the world of esports. Strategy games are included in that universe, and that includes Gwent.

There's a fresh feature called Journey that is part of the new progression system. To keep you busy, there are plenty of levels to unlock. In fact, how about 100 of them?

Yup, that's right, and it's a smart way to keep you coming back for more. Maybe you haven't played the game in a while and you needed something to motivate you to fire it up again. Well, here you go.

It's always important to have replay value, and this a perfect example of bringing players back. Plus, what's more satisfying than good ol' progression in video games? Not much.

Aside from the new progression system, there are some additional Leader Abilities to help give you an edge in matches. And no need to worry about these being locked to specific factions.

There is one ability for each faction, so everyone benefits from the update. Have at it, dealer of cards.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available as a free-to-play title on Google Play and the App Store.
