½ Halfway is an upcoming puzzle game from Tepes Ovidiu who makes some lovely-looking games. Some of his previous projects you might be familiar with include Vestigium, My Winter Album and Cessabit. ½ Halfway will be available on 14th April.

Tepes Ovidiu can up with the concept for Halfway during self-isolation because of the whole COVID-19 situation that's affecting everyone at the moment. It's probably not surprising then to learn that the game is based on the idea of reuniting different groups.

It's intended to be a relaxing, gentle puzzle game that isn't overly taxing on the brain. It takes place in a world where everything is black and white and sees two elements on a journey to restore harmony to the world. Players will need to guide them through various levels so that they meet in the centre of the screen or the halfway point.

Littered across the screen are various blocks with different images on them such as arrows, padlocks and portals. The arrows will determine the direction your ball of light moves whilst you'll need to remove the padlocks before hitting them otherwise you'll have to start again. It kind of reminds me of a more Zen version of the floor puzzles you'd find in Team Rocket HQ in Pokemon Yellow.

It has a lovely minimalist art style that looks very stylish in its execution based on the trailer above. This simplistic approach extends to the controls too which are a series of swipes to move and nothing more. There are a host of different levels that are split across 4 different chapters where the difficulty will gently increase the further you progress.

½ Halfway is available to pre-order now over on the App Store ahead of its release on 14th April. It is a premium title that costs $1.99.
