Last night I was playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons until just past midnight, and I saw a huge moth on a tree. It flew away before I could catch it. That's how I knew it was April, and as soon as I woke up this morning, I went hunting for new bugs and fish. Well, that's easier to do once you know what you're looking for, right?

To that end, we've put together a big list of the new fish and bugs that both Nothern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere players should be looking to catch over the next month. Bad news for Southern Hemisphere players: you're not getting much new. Sorry. This is what you get after lauding sharks over the rest of us for weeks.

While playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons during April, you should attempt to catch all of these brand new bugs and fish. If you need to know where these bugs and fish will spawn, and at what time of day, please take a look at our complete lists for fish and bugs in ACNH…

Oh, and since it's April, make sure to take a look at our guide to the new Bunny Day event so you can craft all of the exclusive DIY recipes!

Now that you're ready to hunt, just seek out the new creatures below…

1
New and leaving fish in the North

New-
  • Killifish
  • Crawfish
  • Snapping Turtle
  • Guppy
  • Neon tetra
  • Sea horse
  • Clown fish
  • Surgeonfish
  • Butterfly fish
  • Zebra turkeyfish
Leaving-
  • Dab
  • Tuna
  • Blue marlin

Most of these fish aren't worth too much, but a bag full of Guppy or Sea Horse should bring you a good amount of bells. Also, the Snapping Turtle is worth 5000 bells, which is a nice boon.

New and leaving fish in the South

New-
  • Yellow perch
  • Dab
Leaving-
  • Catfish
  • Tilapia
  • Angelfish
  • Betta
  • Rainbowfish
  • Moray eel
  • Ribbon eel
  • Giant trevally
  • Mahi-mahi

Wow. Two. Two new fish. Well, now you Southerners will know how we feel up North. If you want to make money on fish, these two are not what to focus on.

3
New and leaving bugs in the North

New-
  • Common bluebottle
  • Agrias butterfly
  • Rajah Brooke's birdwing
  • Atlas moth
  • Madagascan sunset moth
  • Long locust
  • Darner dragonfly
  • Giant water bug
  • Jewel beetle
  • Flea
Leaving-
  • Tarantula

Plenty of new bugs appearing in the North, and plenty of them are worth a decent amount of money. You will likely come across Agrias butterflies and Rajah Brooke's birdwing butterflies fairly often, and they are worth good money. Same goes for the huge moths that appear on trees late at night, and the Jewel Beetle.

New and leaving bugs in the South

New-
  • Common bluebottle
  • Ladybug
  • Jewel beetle
Leaving-
  • Yellow butterfly
  • Bell cricket
  • Red dragonfly
  • Darner dragonfly
  • Banded dragonfly
  • Stinkbug
  • Man-faced stink bug
  • Ladybug
  • Tiger beetle
  • Scorpion

Wow. I'm suddenly feeling bad for the Southern Hemisphere players, while March was great to them, April is brutal. They do, at least, also get the Jewel Beetle to sell, but damn, this is a short, disappointing list…

5
New and leaving sea creatures in the North

New-
  • Lobster
  • Sea pineapple
Leaving-
  • Sea cucumber
  • Snow crab
  • Spider crab

Not too much to be seen right here, just a bunch of sea creatures.

6
New and leaving sea creatures in the South

New-
  • Seaweed
  • Spiny lobster
  • Venus' flower basket
Leaving-
  • Giant isopod
  • Spotted garden eel

Make sure to catch them before they're gone!
