Top 6 best Switch games of March 2020
Who needs to go outside and socialise when you've got a bunch of brilliant Switch games to play?
OK, so I'm choosing to put an unfeasibly positive spin on the past month or so. But the following Switch releases undoubtedly made March more bearable for many of us. And for that we should all be grateful.
This past month we've had the exciting arrival of a long-anticipated first party Nintendo game, the unexpected fruits of a surprise Nintendo Direct, and a handful of fine ports. It's been a good 'un.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
As Nintendo's biggest Switch release since Luigi's Mansion 3 - and probably well beyond that - Animal Crossing: New Horizons had a lot of weight on its shoulders. But it seems to have paid off, with a glowing critical response and crazy-good sales numbers.
Besides which, we can't think of a more appropriate game to be stuck indoors with than this kind-hearted game all about working together to build a thriving community.

Good Job!
Nintendo rather sprung this one on us with its late-March Direct event, but we're glad it did. Paladin Studios gives you a bunch of ostensibly menial tasks to fulfil in an entertainingly chaotic, physics-driven fashion.
Setting up office equipment, cleaning up spillages and watering plants might sound dull, but not when it's done with this much destructive glee and crisp visual panache.

Shinsekai: Into the Depths
Capcom's underwater platformer was part of the first batch of Apple Arcade titles, but it feels much more at home on the Switch. This endearingly off-kilter 2D Metroidvania has you exploring a murky underwater realm, using the unique properties of your environment to navigate.
Mark our words: this one's destined for 'cult classic' and 'overlooked gem' status in a couple of years.

La-Mulana & La-Mulana 2
Both of these games hit the Switch at the same time, so we're bundling then together. If you're in the market for an old school Metroidvania that doesn't stint on mystery or challenge, this pair of rough gems will see you right.
Insta-dying, back tracking, and head scratching are all part of the La-Mulana package.

Doom 64
A real collector's piece, this. Doom 64 is perhaps the most overlooked entry in id's esteemed shooter series. It's not a Nintendo 64 version of the original game, as you might suspect, but rather a completely original game made specifically for Nintendo's beloved platform by Midway.
This lovingly rendered port gives everyone a chance to sample some retro demon-blasting action.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
The Switch is steadily increasing its 'open world adventure' library, with the likes of The Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection giving fans of the form something to chew on.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is another addition to the ranks, with its own deeply silly tone, OTT GTA-on-steroids action and reportedly decent performance.
