MINImax Tinyverse is a popular real-time strategy game that blends elements of the tower defence genre with some inventive environmental manipulation. It takes place in an abandoned antique shop where all manner of tiny beings now go head to head in intense battle.

You hover above the ensuing war, grabbing and repositioning your troops while occasionally messing with objects dotted around the battlefield to give your team the edge. The experience is layered enough to appease both strategy game veterans and newcomers alike.

Its latest update kicks off the game's first regular season of ranked matches, a fresh and fan-requested feature. To give you a leg up over the competition, we've put together a guide that should give you all the info you need to claim victory.

How it works

The first season of ranked matches is open to all players who have reached level 15 and above. During a ranked match, your units are automatically boosted to level 8, while all units at level 9 and above will retain their advantage. This helps to keep matches balanced while still allowing you to benefit from your higher-level units.

Your starting rank will be determined by the outcome of three set matches. Once they're out of the way, you'll have full access to ranked battles. Your grade can go up or down depending on how many points you win or lose throughout the season. Achieving a decent grade is of the utmost importance if you want to net yourself great rewards once the season comes to an end.

All about grades

Ranked matches are divided into three distinct grades: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each of these is made up of 5 separate levels. Reaching 100 points in one of these levels will allow you to enter into a match that, if won, could propel you up a level.

In the unlikely event of your points hitting zero, you'll be forced into a defensive match that will ultimately determine whether you'll remain at the same level or be demoted.

What you can win

Much like the matches themselves, the rewards up for grabs are split into different grades. Each grade has its own chest, and inside that you'll find 4 other chests packed full of prizes. There is a Gold Chest, Star Chest, Lucky Chest, and even a Mysterious Chest to collect.

Those who make it into a top 3 position will earn themselves a chest that scales to match whether they achieved a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finish.
On top of all that, all players who participate in a ranked season will receive a player portrait background. So it's worth taking part even if you're not the competitive type.

MINImax Tinyverse is available for download now from both the App Store and Google Play as a free-to-play title. It's definitely one to check out if you're a strategy game fan or just want to play something a little different.
