Marvel Duel is an upcoming card battler for iOS and Android that will head into closed beta for select regions this week

Just as I finish writing an article about one card game, another one appears. Marvel Duel is an upcoming card battler from NetEase that will be heading into Closed Beta in Thailand and the Philippines from 19th March. This news was first spotted by Mobile Mode Gaming.

If you're from those regions and want to be part of the Closed Beta Test you can head over to the game's official website where you'll be able to sign up. Alongside your email address, it will also ask for which device you have, presumably so they can make sure they invite a good mix of phones.

The game itself will see players opting to play as one of 5 well-known superheroes from the storied franchise. This will include the likes of Iron-Man, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Thor and Star-Lord. They'll each have their own skills to bring to the game.

Beyond that, there will be over 150 different characters to collect, which is an advantage Marvel always has whenever they dip their toes into a new genre. They don't have to worry about creating new characters to add because they already have a ridiculously massive roster to choose from in the first place. It must be very handy.

Of course, with that many cards, you'll need to do some tinkering to find out which synergies there are between the different characters that will be available. There are also equipment, abilities and traps to consider too, further increasing the options available to you.

For instance, if you choose to play as Iron Man you might choose to equip him with one of his many suits depending on the situation. Alternatively, you might set traps for your opponent to fall into or activate abilities to deal massive damage to them.

Marvel Duel will eventually launch on the App Store and Google Play. There is no solid release date just yet. We do however know that it will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.

Did you know there are some great games available in soft-launch? Here's 53 of the best
