Riot's entry into the digital card game realm, Legends of Runeterra, has soft-launched in Singapore today, suggesting that a roll-out to the rest of the world will be happening imminently. In the meantime, you can also try the game on PC if you're interested to see what it's like.

I've dabbled a little in the PC version of the Legends of Runeterra and have enjoyed my time with it so far. The game is split into a series of different rounds where you'll either be attacking or defending. Both players can use cards of course, but only one of them will be able to attack.

This leads to a bit of back and forth, with each player responding with cards until one of them either can't or chooses not to. From there the chain you've created will play out. There's a neat little feature called the Oracle's Eye that will show you the outcome of a chain, so you don't have to worry about constantly playing it out in your head, the game provides you with a visual update.

Because the game is based in the League of Legends universe you can expect there to be champions from the game be some of the cards. These are, naturally, some of the more powerful cards available in the game. They're not all included though, there are around 148 champions in LoL at the moment so only a select few have been chosen. No Sona sadly.

Each of these champion cards has the ability to level up once certain criteria have been met. This gives them new abilities, some of which are incredibly powerful. For instance, once Fiora has killed 2 enemies she will level up. Her upgraded form will then allow the player to automatically win the game if the Grand Duelist kills 4 enemies and survives. She's the Exodia or Destiny Board of Legends of Runeterra, basically.

Legends of Runeterra is available now in Singapore through the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
