Roller Champions is heading for mobile, closed alpha test begins March 11th
Launching this year
Ubisoft's 3v3 sports title, Roller Champions, is officially heading for mobile devices, and a closed alpha test is set to run on PC from March 11th through to March 23rd.
The whole thing is experienced from a third-person perspective, with teams of 3 competing to score the most points within a strict seven-minute time limit. You can score by throwing the fast-moving ball into your opponents' goal, but in order to do so, you'll first need to complete a full lap of the course with the help of your teammates.
It looks totally frantic, and the developer stream embedded below should hopefully help explain more than the basics.Game on! ?????? Check out all-new gameplay trailer for @RollerChamps and register for the Closed Alpha now ???? https://t.co/qaEvRabkN2 — Ubisoft (@Ubisoft) March 4, 2020
Following the game's announcement during Ubisoft's E3 2019 conference, a pre-alpha version was launched via Uplay. That said, this latest alpha test contains a bunch more content to get stuck into.
Alpha testers will have the chance to put their skills to the test on the new Chichén Itzá arena, the largest playable arena to date. A number of new moves have also been added, including the air tackle, extended tackle, teammate-power grapple boost, grabble double jump, and grapple double pump.
The character customisation system has now arrived, offering over 70 cosmetic items to try on, hopefully making your character more unique to you. There are, among other things, gloves, clothes, helmets, hair, and skates to collect.
Roller Champions is still set to launch this year for consoles, PC, and – most importantly – mobile. You can sign up to take part in the closed alpha over on the game's official site. Though, as I've mentioned, it's currently only open to those on PC. Taking part will net you an exclusive outfit that'll carry over to the full release.
