In a frankly bizarre turn of events, Gram Games and Zynga's hugely popular, kid-friendly puzzler Merge Dragons! is crossing over with Adult Swim's Rick and Morty for a limited-time event over this leap year weekend.

What's even stranger is that this isn't the first time this has happened – it's the third, with the original event taking place in November of last year.

The latest crossover officially kicks off today and is scheduled to end on Monday, March 2nd. It sees the Emmy Award winning show's titular characters arrive in the world of Merge Dragons! to heal the land and collect some all-important points. The crossover is very officially known as the 'Mortyablo Deja Moo Event'. Yes, really.

Following their adventures in Dragonia and Froopyland, Rick and Morty now find themselves travelling through a mysterious portal. On the other side lies a strange world filled with all manner of demonic bovines.

When greeted with such a sight, most would simply turn and head straight back through the intergalactic portal from which they came, but not Rick and Morty, no sir, they're convinced something special lies in wait for them. Perhaps a powerful and exotic item of some description?

The hit show is now on its fourth season, which I gather most fans are enjoying a bit more than the third. Being the good lad I am, I imported a Blu-ray of the original season from Australia back when it was borderline impossible to view it legally over here in the UK. While my brain tells me that must have only been a couple years back, IMDb says it was, oh, a mere six years ago…

I'd suggest you give Merge Dragons! a go if you haven't already, but I wouldn't want to be held accountable for your ensuing addiction. Heed my warning before you download it from the App Store or Google Play.
