Romancing SaGa Re;UniverSe is available to pre-register for Android ahead of a closed beta test in March

Square Enix has been on a bit of a mobile game announcing spree recently with Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest spin-offs on their way to phones and one released today. Now they've announced that Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe will be heading West for both iOS and Android.

It's set to be released later this year, sometime during the summer. Before then, however, Android users will have a chance to get a sneak peek at the game through a closed beta that will begin in late March. If you're interested you can pre-register to be part of that over on Google Play.

Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe originally released in Japan in December 2018 where it's since been downloaded over 15 million times. The game itself is set some 300 years after the events of Romancing SaGa 3 and will have an original story with both new and long-serving characters making an appearance.

Long-time fans of the series will be pleased to now that the game has been created by several veteran developers including Akitoshi Kawazu who has previously worked on Final Fantasy, Romancing SaGa and SaGa Frontier. Square Enix has also promised it will maintain the fast-paced nature and strategic side of combat that the series is known for.

As with a lot of Square Enix's mobile endeavours, there will be multiple characters to collect as you battle your way through the game, with each having multiple customisation options including a variety of skills and roles they can fulfil within your team.

Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe will be available on both the App Store and Google Play during the summer of 2020. However, if you'd like to take part in the closed beta for Android you can pre-register for that now. It will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
