Eri's Forest is a beautiful looking tower defence game that's heading for iOS and Android next week

Eri's Forest is an upcoming tower defense game from Australian developers Studio Qinoko. It is set to release for both iOS and Android on 28th February, so not too long wait if you're a fan of tactically defending towers.

Unsurprisingly set in an ancient forest, you'll have to defend its trees from a mysterious entity that is causing the insects to attack these towering trees. You'll take on the role of a guardian and will need to work with the forest's spirit Eri to ward off this new evil.

As previously mentioned, Eri's Forest is a tower defence game with a little twist on the genre. Instead of being provided with the usual top-down view of each map you'll actually be able to rotate 360 degrees around the trunk of the current tree you're defending.

You won't be building turrets in the literal sense either. Instead, you'll create kinoko spirit towers, which are essentially mystical looking plants and fungi that shoot bolts of magic at the invading insects. It's not a lethal attack though, instead, the insects get knocked off the trees and are left to go about their business – it's not their fault they're being controlled by some evil force after all.

Each tower can temporarily be boosted using one of the many lanterns that Eri has available. It's only a local boost, however, so you'll need to ensure that you're using these power-ups at the optimal moments.

The other noteworthy point about Eri's Forest – which I'm sure you've already picked up on – is how gorgeous it looks. Each of the towers has a pretty ethereal glow and they fill the screen with beautiful lighting effects whenever they fire one of their magical attacks as the insects climb up 3D scanned trees.

Eri's Forest will be available on both the App Store and Google Play on 28th February. Unless you happen to be in Australia or New Zealand, then can you can play it now. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
