Bulwark of the Abyss, the upcoming twin-stick 'defender', has a new trailer that teases a boss players will face

We first covered Bulwark of the Abyss back at the start of January. If you're unfamiliar, it's a defensively focused action game with lots of loot to gather and will act as a spiritual successor to When's Lunch Games'? previous title Gwarmbee. Today, they've released a trailer that supposedly teases one of the bosses you'll battle during the game.

But there's clearly more than meets the eye with this video. We only catch a glimpse of the aforementioned boss in the over 1-minute long trailer, where it appears to be some Lovecraftian nightmare with more tentacles than is ever necessary.

However, throughout most of the trailer, the beast is nowhere to be seen and instead we see a series of ominous messages and several strange symbols littered throughout the video. It's all very unclear, which is a similar story on the developer's blog where a lot of opaque messaging has been circulating since 16th January. There are certainly some ARG shenanigans at play here. 

Bulwark of the Abyss is definitely an intriguing title, being billed as a twin-stick defender where you'll be able to deflect enemy projectiles back at them using a magic shield. There's something incredibly appealing about the idea of striking down enemies with their own powers.

Beyond that, there'll be plenty of looting, with new gear, items and runestones to find as you pilfer your way through the games various dungeons. These runes can be used to give your bulwark different effects such as an ice enchantment that will slow enemies, allowing you to escape from a tricky situation easier.

Bulwark of the Abyss will be heading to the App Store at some stage during 2020. The developer has also mentioned they'd like to bring the game other platforms beyond the planned PC and iOS releases, so an Android version could be on the cards too.
