1
Auto chess royale

Yes this is a battle royale, sort of, at least in the same way that Tetris 99 is. There are 99 other players going up against you, and that means you'll need a very strong, balanced team to take them on.

While in other auto chess games you might aim to build a counter team to your opponents, in Chess Royale, you're unlikely to fight against the same player twice, and as such, need to be ready for any situation.

This means you can focus on the basics of team composition, like a good tank and some strong DPS units, instead of worrying about the minutiae.

2
Gaming the shop

In most auto chess games, the shop is a hostile place. You'll flick through endlessly for the units you want to put on the field, only to be disappointed when they come up, and you don't have enough.

Thankfully, you'll only need a single gold to cycle the shop, and when your turn starts the shop doesn't reset itself, it stays on whatever inventory it had last.

That means you can cycle through the shop while your turn is playing out, and even if you lack the gold to purchase the unit you want, it'll still be there when your turn ends and you get some more. But of course, in the early game, it's good to use gold to level yourself up and put more units down on the field.

3
Multi-star monsters

This works similarly to every other auto chess game. If you buy three of any monster, they will combine into a higher-ranked monster, which is far more powerful.

Then you can combine three of these higher-ranked monsters into a single powerful monster, and these will clean up most matches with ease.

You will have limited space on your bench though, and if you have multiple of the same unit, it won't contribute to your shared buffs. Luckily, the monsters you already own will glow a bit in the shop, to hint that you should use them.

4
Shared buffs

Again, this is a common theme in auto chess games, and it is here as it is in many others. If you have multiple monsters with the same affinities, you can increase their abilities.

This will all be displayed in the top left of the main screen, and will be listed just underneath monsters in the shop. You will need a certain number of units to activate these buffs, but once you have the buff, your entire team will receive it.

In the end game, you should be aiming to have as many of these buffs active as possible, along with high-ranked units on your field. With these combined, you will almost certainly come away as the overall champion, if not top three - at the least.
