Ultimate Reality is a dimension hopping, side-scrolling beat 'em up heading for Android later this year

If you closely follow indie circles you may already be familiar with Ultimate Reality. It was originally announced last year for PC but since then developer Link Up games have expanded the platforms it will release on to include Android. It's expected to be released towards the end of the year.

Ultimate Reality is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you'll hop between various dimensions as you embark on a quest to stop a mysterious figure from destroying every existing reality. To do that you'll play as Drake Smith, a vigilante with an unknown hero alias who possesses a device that allows him to freely hop between dimensions.

He also has a choice of five suits, with each allowing him to specialise in a different type of combat. One might be focused on technical one-on-one combat whilst another might allow for more acrobatic traversal. As well as your suit, you'll make use of a plethora of weapons, gadgets and devastating combos to defeat your foes.

Beyond that, there will also be 10 dimension focused abilities you can bring to the fight too. These can allow you to manipulate time so you move faster than your enemies or create decoys of yourself to act as distractions. Or you could just turn into antimatter to beat them down.

There will be a total of 5 maps scattered across different dimensions where you'll battle across urban skylines and gravitational factories. Each reality will have distinct properties compared to others that you'll need to quickly adapt to in order to survive.

You can check out some of the gameplay from the PC demo – which can be downloaded from Gamejolt if you're interested – in the video above, where you'll see some of the abilities in action alongside the melee combat.

Ultimate Reality is slated for a release in late 2020. In the meantime, you can pre-register for the game on Google Play.
