Garena Free Fire will soon launch its Christmas and New Year's events but before all that kicks off they've updated the game so that players will hopefully be able to earn characters faster. They've also teased an entirely new character called Notora.
This update introduces the OB19 system and will allow players to equip a fourth skill slot, speed up unlocking characters and provide a new character page interface. Speeding up the process of unlocking characters is what most players will be interested in and we've got the numbers so you can judge by your own standards if it's a worthwhile change for you personally.
In every game there will be a 350% increase to the fragment drop rate and the number you can earn per character has also been increased from 100 to 250. On top of that, the total amount of fragments, coins and diamonds you need for upgrades has been reduced, though we don't know how much cheaper it will be.
As mentioned earlier, they've also announced a new character called Notora. She is a passionate biker and to reflect that in-game she'll become the first character to have a perk that's vehicle-related. Whenever she hops into a vehicle she'll recover some health which also extends to anyone else who's riding shotgun with her.
If you've not heard of Garena Free Fire before it's an extremely popular battle royale game. It even has a thriving esports scene if you're interested in the competitive side of gaming, with the fairly recent Free Fire World Series Final racking up 2 million concurrent viewers.Vote for YOUR Game of the Year in the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award 2020
