When playing through Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, you will find that there are many more rewards hidden away behind unlock tokens.

Or, you may not have found that yet. It's actually hidden away quite well, as one of three icons in the bottom right of the main menu. The center icon will take you into the reward book, where you can earn loads of ore, kegs, and much more.

But there are so many to choose from that it's hard to know where to get started, what offers rewards, which should be focused on, and how you get those unlock keys to actually unlock everything.

Well, we have all of that information right here, but of course, if you're new to Gwent, or haven't played in since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you'll find many things have changed, and that's exactly why you should check out our introductory guide.

Now you're up to date, read on to understand the Reward Book.

Dozens of trees

There are so many reward books to choose from, and so many trees to follow through on, that it's hard to know where to start.

I would suggest going first down the tree of the type of deck you like. I picked the Monster deck.

There are multiple kinds of nodes in each tree with offer different rewards, from basic nodes that offer rewards of ore, crafting materials, and more.

Each tree also has its own story that can be unlocked, along with special cards. For now though, just pick one and stick with it until complete.

There are loads of rewards to earn throughout the reward book, but it'll come slowly. Just keep at it, and make sure to claim rewards from cleared missions, and you'll make your way through it eventually, it's a long term goal to aim towards, not something to be done immediately.

1
Story sections

As you move through the reward books you'll notice that some of the nodes that you can unlock appear as scrolls, and these will reward you with story segments.

The story will appear as text inside the reward book, on the left side of the screen. Yes, it's hardly immersive, but it's nice to have.

It's not even obvious that Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has a story at first, but these reward books manage to really fill out the lore and the world of The Witcher.

2
Chests

Just like the story nodes, there will also be chest nodes, and if you're looking for rewards, these are what you should be aiming for.

The chests will give you more ore, scrap, and even kegs to unlock more cards from, making them by far the best part of unlocking through the reward books.

Try and take the shortest route in the reward book to get to the chests, and you will find yourself improving much faster.

3
Unlocking more keys

Of course this is the most important part. You need the unlock token keys to actually access each of the nodes in the reward books.

You can get keys by levelling up, completing challenges and achievements, and winning matches.

Yes, it's as simple as that. You've just got to play through the game and hit as many challenges as possible, which is what you should be doing anyway. You can boost your rewards by playing in the Arena of course, but that requires more dedication…
