Veritas is an upcoming psychological mystery puzzle game that's played in a first-person perspective. It kicks off with your character waking up in a small room with no recollection of what happened or how you got there. All you remember is that you agreed to take part in a study by a company called Veritas Industries. You'll be able to solve this mystery on 12th February 2020 for iOS and Android.
Veritas will be a narrative-driven game that will see you learning all about the facility you've found yourself trapped in as your forced to solve various puzzles to try and find a way to break out. The developers are hoping to discuss some interesting surrounding self-identity through the game's story as you do this.
This idea stemmed from the concept that a person is arguably a product of their memories, so Veritas will explore the idea of who you would be if they're taken away from you. It sounds like it has the potential to get very existential, which I'm definitely up for.
The puzzles themselves appear to be fairly varied based on the brief glimpses we see of them in the trailer, which you can see above. There's everything from having to find a path through a maze, lining up various images and matching up a variety of clues.
Veritas won't have you remember all the different clues and potential solutions though, it'll provide you with the Glitch Camera so you can manually keep track of it all. This camera allows you to take pictures any time you want and you'll also be able to scribble down some notes on them too.
So, for example, if you see a clue written on a wall you can snap a picture of it so you won't have to commit it to memory. You'll then also be able to write notes on that image too in case you forget exactly what that clue would be useful for. It's a cool-sounding feature, particularly for forgetful people like myself.
Veritas will be available for iOS and Android on February 12th 2020. You can try out a beta version of Veritas now by joining the developer's Discord.Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.
