Hello and welcome to this week's entry in our long-running GAMES OF THE WEEK series. If you're looking for the best 5 games which have launched onto the iPhone, iPad or Android stores this week then you've landed yourself at the right place.

Here's where we discuss the top five games which have launched on any of the mobile platforms which, specifically, don't require a subscription or membership to play. While we realise that this does whittle down the amount of titles available to discuss — after all, we are in the age of Google Play Pass, Hatch and Apple Arcade — it's totally worth it and means that you are presented with a selection of games which you can immediately play or can grab without having to sign up for anything.

This week we've got some great new titles, ranging from a dog-themed football manager simulation through to a real-time tactics title which puts you in command against horedes of deadly xenomorphs. There's also an unexpected port of a platforming classic in there too.

Remember, if you're looking to check through some of our previous selections then you can always do that at our Games of The Week Hub, it's a great way to find games to fill out that empty storage space on your phone. Or, if you like your news in bitesize chunks, delivered straight to your palm then maybe follow us on Twitter.

Anyway, without any further delay, click through on the big button below to find out more about the 5 best new games for mobile this week

1
Krystopia: A Puzzle Journey - iOS / Android

One area where we are never short of games on mobile is the puzzle genre, however that certainly doesn't mean that there's no room for a new, stylish puzzler like Krystopia. It fuses together a charming, low-poly visual style with sliding and power-puzzles which those familiar with 2016's The Witness will feel right at home with. It's all held together with enchanting music a cute animations.

There's also a selection of optional AR Puzzles available in there too, if you have the appropriate software.

Digimon ReArise - iOS / Android

There's always chatter about a new Digimon game, however its rare that one actually sees a full Western release. Yet, here we are, Digimon ReArise has launched for iOS and Android - and it's actually pretty damn good.

Digimon ReArise tasks you with saving the world from Spirals, and you do that in the only way you know - by getting a handful of digital monsters together and battling in 5v5 battles. You can also chat, feed and pet your digimon, if you're not too hot on battling.

Reed Remastered - iOS

When remasters of games come out there's a degree of trepedation as so much time has passed that there are lots of new players who haven't heard of it. This isn't the case with Reed, which only launched back in March of 2018 - so there's a high chance that a lot of original owners have still got it on their phones.

If you didn't get to play the original Reed game, and as such experience it's tough platfrming and beautiul world, then the Remastered version is a great time to hop in. The developers have added in a bunch more music and secrets, however they've also remastered a lot of the animations - as you'll see in the trailer. Oh, and it's cheaper than the original.

4
Woofball Manager - iOS

I'm a massive fan of Reigns-style swipe-decision gameplay and also of quantum heavy spreadsheet simulators like Football Manager. Imagine my joy when I got the email about Woofball Manager, a fusion of the two which comes complete with dense punnery including characters such as 'Frank Lampost' and 'John Terrier'. While the game, which I suspect had its development started by some drunk friends on a long night, certainly takes ideas from other games, I'm very impressed with the mechanics-mash-up and overall quality.

As it turns out, the developers - Swipe Studios - are actually responsible for Swipe Manager, which very much fits the above bill, however lacks the puns. Clearly there's a lesson here about letting people's wordy tendancys free of the leash.

5
Xenowerk Tactics - iOS / Android

If you've been watiing for a new, gritty space-shooter to play through then you don't need to wait any further. With a real-time pause menu which gives you excellent control over your troops' abilities, and with an unmatched fusion of industrial-gunmetal meets creeping-xeno-swamplife, Xenowerk Tactics really ticks all of the boxes when it comes to an aesthetically and mechanically pleasing modern mobile RTS.

I don't think there' s much else to say about it in a short-preview manner. Although it's definitely worth stating that the trailer music is so reminiscent of John Carpenter's The Thing intro that its a perfect fit for the outnumbered-but-not-outgunned gameplay which can fall apart at any moment.
