Sky: Children of the Light's 'Season of Lightseekers' update adds MFi controller support, new cosmetics, and more
Season 2 has now begun
thatgamecompany’s long-in-development Sky: Children of the Light launched just over two months ago. For me, it feels like a distant memory thanks to the sheer number of games we’ve been inundated with, mostly thanks to Apple Arcade. The game’s new ‘Season of Lightseekers’ update signals the start of its second season of content, adding MFi controller support, fresh cosmetics, a host of bug fixes, and much more.
First up, six new spirits have found themselves lost within the six kingdoms of Sky. Each spirit offers its own exotic items for you to try out – including capes, instruments, hairstyles, and hats – so you’d be wise to grab a friend and head out in search of them.A new Seasonal adventure arrives in #thatskygame tomorrow, with new stories, characters, collectibles, MFi controller support, and more! ? ???? Two very fetching umbrellas have also been added. These can be acquired from the Seasonal NPC in the Hidden Forest or as a reward for tracking down all of the Season of Lightseekers collectables. In terms of new abilities, you can now pick up your friend and take them for an exciting piggyback ride. A ‘double-five’ ability, which turns your measly hi-five into a double-handed version, is also now available.
The latest daily quest sees you attempting to catch the light around the kingdom of Sky. Not quite sure how that works, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
MFi controller support is also now available, with a handy tutorial for those booting up the game for the first time. If you opt to connect a gamepad, it’ll be used by default. And please remember that all of this is still very much a work in progress, meaning you may experience a few bugs.
Here’s the full list of fixes and additions. If you’re yet to give this one a go, I’d suggest reading over Dann’s review from July. And once you’ve done that, you’ll find Sky: Children of the Light available for download from the App Store.
