Apple Arcade launches days early for iOS 13 beta testers
There's still time to sign up
Days ahead of its planned launch on September 19th, Apple Arcade – the tech behemoth’s gaming subscription service – is now available to iOS 13 public beta testers. As first reported by MacRumours, the service seems to be rolling out slowly to a currently unknown number of lucky players.
It sounds like developers were not made aware that their games would release early. This is an especially big issue for, say, Sayonara Wild Hearts, whose mobile launch was originally set for September 19th – the same day as its PS4 and Switch launch. As Simogo says in the tweet above, there’s now a concern that spoilers will spread ahead of the game's intended release.Hey yo. We worked very hard for the past four years on Sayonara Wild Hearts, and had no idea about the Apple Arcade beta-stuff that is currently happening, so please do us a favour and don't spoil the game for people who can't play it yet. Thank you! <3 — Simogo (@simogo) September 16, 2019
There are currently over 50 games available to those who have access to the beta and opt to subscribe to Apple Arcade. The $4.99-a-month service is set to release new games on a weekly basis, and I reckon 50+ is more than enough to get things going.
Some of the launch games include Exit the Gungeon, Rayman Mini, LEGO Brawls, Hot Lava, and Frogger in Toy Town. Here’s a full list of all the early games coming to Apple Arcade. If you’re happy to wait, iOS 13 and Apple Arcade are still set to launch this Thursday, September 19th. But if you simply can’t wait, here’s the link to sign up for the iOS 13 beta programme.
