Everything to expect in Bungo Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost’s latest bumper update

As part of routine maintenance on August 23rd, Bungo Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost received a whopping new update. While I don’t want to spoil it all just yet, let’s just say that there’s something here to please all fans of the game. And so, seeing as it’s pretty darnn hefty, we thought we’d break it down for you and point out some of the real highlights.

If you haven’t tried it out, the game’s perhaps best described as an action-packed ‘Ability Fling’ battler where you collect and fight with fan-favourite characters from the hit anime and manga, Bungo Stray Dogs.

The new ‘Special Image’ feature

From now on, putting in the work to grow applicable characters to Skill Level 3 will reward you with said character’s ‘Special Image’. What this basically boils down to is a flashy illustration and unique voice lines which can be toggled in the character’s home screen settings. Right now, this is limited to certain characters, though it’s still a welcome addition. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

For those new to the game, Skill Levels can of course be boosted by earning duplicates of the same character, then spending them in the character’s Skill Power Up screen. It’s also good to know about a fairly new in-game item called Skill Beads. Thanks to these, you no longer have to work to earn duplicates, as you now have the option to spend your Beads to increase any character’s Skill Level directly. It’s a great idea for those who just want to quickly level up their faves.

Sorting and filtering have been reworked and improved

Sorting through your characters, the Codex, Scene Cards, and Materials has been reworked and improved to be easier and faster. More options have been added to tweak the sorting function to your unique preferences, and the screens themselves have all been given a fresh coat of paint.

You can now change the System Voice

This one’s interesting as it is part of the Premium Bonuses. Long story short, for as long as you hold Premium status, you’ll have the option to switch the System Voice that rings out through each screen to that of whichever character you like. Again, this is a feature that’ll please players who have definite favourites.

Viewing and selling materials is easier than ever

So you know the Materials List screen, yeah? Well, it’s about to become even more of a breeze to use. Thanks to the update, duplicate materials are now handily grouped together to keep everything tidy and make viewing them easier. And on the Materials Selling screen itself, you’ll find that you can now pick however many of the one material you want to sell by using a handy slider.

These small but impactful quality of life improvements will likely be much appreciated by diehard fans.

The ‘Treasure Beneath the Moonlight’ event is live

From now until September 8th, you’ll be able to delve into the game’s latest event ‘Treasure Beneath the Moonlight’. This one sees you battling your way through time-limited stages to nab yourself a boast-worthy number of Event Items and Event Points.

Your earnings can then be spent to unlock Event Reward Characters such as police Detective ‘SR Tachihara Michizou’ and infamous thief ‘SR Edogawa Ranpo’. It’s also your chance to get a bunch of free Ability Stones and Limited-Edition Tickets simply by logging in daily.
