Sam Barlow’s follow-up to his smash-hit mystery puzzler ‘Her Story’ is easily one of the most highly anticipated mobile games in years. And, good news – as spotted by a member of our App Army – the game finally has the firm release date of August 23rd, with pre-orders now live on the App Store.

The gameplay of Telling Lies will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s played Her Story. It sees you sifting through an NSA database to uncover the links between four different characters. The idea is that they’re all somehow embroiled in one large lie, with 96 smaller ones on top for you to work your way through.

I reckon you can expect plenty of twists and turns along the way, and (as Dann pointed out back in March), it’ll be interesting to see how the characters act considering that they don’t know they’re being watched.

The cast includes Logan Marshall-Green, who you may know from ‘Prometheus’ or the criminally underseen ‘The Invitation’ from 2015. He’s a tremendous talent, no doubt, so it's exciting to see him pop up in the world of video games. The rest of the cast includes Alexandra Shipp (Storm in the latest X-Men films), Kerry Bishe (Argo, Grand Piano), and Angela Sarafyan (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Westworld).

What’s strange is that Annapurna Interactive, the publisher of Telling Lies, was previously signed on to bring its games to Apple Arcade. Perhaps only some of its games will be exclusive to the platform, then? It’s unclear for now, though we’ll be sure to let you know once more info arrives.

In the meantime, here’s the link to pre-order Telling Lies over on the App Store. It’s currently priced at £6.99, and you’ll be able to delve into its many mysteries this Friday, August 23rd.
