Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare brings explosive mecha action to Android and iOS

I woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning in the shape of Bandai Namco's Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare, a high-octane mecha battler that's exactly the sort of thing we don't often see localised for western audiences. It's set to launch worldwide soon on August 21st for both iOS and Android.

The game, known as Gundam Breaker Mobile in Japan, is a new mobile entry in the popular Gundam Battle series whose games have previously released on PSP, PS3, PS VITA, and PS4. It's a 3D mecha action battle game where you can build and customise your very own Gundam plastic models (which are known here as Gunpla).

The creation options sound super impressive, with parts from over 25 Gundam anime series to tinker with. There's also the option to personalise your faves with a range of unique paint jobs. Of course, you'll need to put in the work and complete story missions if you want to build your dream Gunpla.

Once you're happy with your weapon of mass destruction, it's time to cast them into battle against the creations of other Gunpla builders, with your ultimate goal being to win the Gunpla Battle tournament.
The weapon-based combat is promised to be intuitive for new players, though there's surprising depth to the make-your-own combo system that allows you to mix long-range attacks with melee to devastating effect.

As usual, there are pre-registration milestones. Hitting 100,000 pre-registrations means that everyone will get a free Gunpla, while reaching 200,000 will unlock y'all a sweet Wing Gunpla. Both numbers seem like very attainable targets, and it's always nice to hop into a game with a few neat bonuses already unlocked.

If you're just about frothing at the mouth for a little Gundam action after all that Gunpla talk, you can pre-register now for Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare either on the game’s official site, the App Store, or Google Play.
