Forgotten Anne, ThroughLine Games’ upcoming puzzle-platformer, is now available for pre-order on the App Store. It tells the story of the Forgotlings; a group of living lost items who want nothing more than to return home to their owners.

Its hand-animated visuals are reminiscent of the work of the legendary Studio Ghibili, creator of movies like Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro, and Spirited Away. Backing up the stunning animation is a soaring orchestral score that makes the game’s many emotional moments hit ever harder.

You take on the role of Anne, an enforcer for the human leader of the Forgotlings, Master Bonku. It’s your job to squash an uprising among the Forgotlings so that you and your boss can finally return to the human world. Although the game will see you start out as a strict authority figure, Forgotton Anne’s narrative will change depending on how you act throughout your many branching conversations with the world’s colourful inhabitants.

The gameplay sees you making use of the magical power known as Anima to solve puzzles and work your way back to a world you once called home. There’s also a healthy dose of platforming here, with plenty of hidden abilities to seek out and master.
