The 2nd anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War in numbers

Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War brings the high-seas drama and rum-addled swagger of the Disney film series from the big screen to the small. Released two years ago this May, the mobile game’s developer Joycity is now celebrating the second anniversary with an update and some numbers to be proud of. Here are 6 milestone figures for you to toast tankards and yell “Arrr me hearties!” for.

No. of captains who’ve sailed into battle: 6 million

In the age of pirates, you have to expect a skirmish or two. Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War is all about proving your prowess on the Seven Seas, trading cannon fire with rival fleets and looting your way to victory. So far, 6,365,750 players have donned their tricorne hats and sailed out to battle.

No. of Tortuga Brawls: 33 million

It’s your fleet versus whoever you’ve chosen to go toe-to-toe with — or rather galleon-to-galleon. Tortuga Brawls let you take on a captain and their fleet from anywhere across the servers in a quick-fire draw, based on your class and power ranking. So far, players have clocked up 33,957,472 brawls between them.

No. of sea monsters slain: 1.7 billion

No. of unique weapons crafted: 125 million Whilst good tactics are crucial for gaining the upper hand (more about tactics later), your firepower is just as important — and forging unique weapons can give you the edge over rival buccaneers. 125,486,934 unique weapons have been crafted by players since the game’s launch.

No. of pirates recruited: 2.2 billion

A captain is only as good as his or her crew. In Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War, you’ll need to recruit and train up your crew of fellow pirates to shore up your fleet against attack, and to ensure your own conquests are successful. 2,236,239,127 aspiring sea-dogs have been hired by players so far.

No. of East India Trading Company fleets looted: 183 million

As well as pirates and sea monsters, you’re sharing the ocean with East India Trade Company ships who are seeking to rule the waves. Brimming with loot, they offer a tempting prospect to any player brave enough to take them on — and clearly there are plenty of brave players out there; East India Trade Company forces have been looted a total of 183,607,987 thus far.

All of those figures add up to a roaringly successful two years for Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War — and there’s another reason to celebrate. The anniversary update introduces more stats to the tactician menu making it easy to find the best character to head your fleet. Plus, there’s a new tactician to the game: Captain Barbossa’s Shade, a great choice to have on board the Queen Anne’s Revenge.
