The week might be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean we haven't saved time for another entry into our game of the day series. Every weekday here at Pocket Gamer we pick out a great mobile game that we think you should be playing - consider it our small gift to you.
Today we're going back to the start of one of our favourite modern franchises - Card Crawl. It's a brilliant game that set the tone for a change in the mobile card game genre, and we love it. What do you think? Is it the pinnacle of the series, or did its sequels improve on the formula? Make sure you let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article.
While we've got you, you should definitely click here to bookmark our game of the day hub - that way you're always going to be abreast of which titles have won the prestigious and definitely not less than a month old award.
There's something genuinely entertaining about Card Crawl - from its unique art style to its simple-but-in-depth mechanics, everything adds to the sense that this isn't just another identikit dungeon crawler. And it really isn't.
You're dealing with cards here, cards dealt to you at random. Figuring out the best way to deal with them is the key to success, but that doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get to the end of the deck - far from it, in fact. It's that danger that keeps this solitaire card game from getting stale.
When we reviewed Card Crawl we called it "a brilliant distillation of the dungeon crawler," before giving it a lovely Silver Award. Click here and you can read our in-depth review in its entirety. And we highly recommend that you do.Click here to download Card Crawl for iOS
