Thursday has rolled around again, which means it's time to take a long hard look at every game that landed on the App Store and Google Play Store over the last seven days. Well, it's time for us to do that, in order to make this list of the top 5 best games that have come out for mobile over the last week. Because that's the sort of thing we do here.

Click here and you can check out which 5 game we thought were worthy of your attention last week

This week we've got a heart-breaking puzzle adventure, a remastered classic of the early days of the App Store, and a game that looks like Clash Royale but actually has a whole bunch of its own ideas. Essentially, we reckon there's something for everyone, but we'd be super happy for you to make your own suggestions in the comments if you've got your own favourite that we haven't included.

At Pocket Gamer we like to make sure you're always up to date - not just with what games have come out, but which of them you should be excited about and why. We love games, and we really just want to share that slightly weird adoration with as many people as possible, you included.

Here, for example, are the mobile games we're most excited to see coming out this month

So make sure you add us to your bookmarks, or whatever it is young people do to keep track of what's going on in the world nowadays. And make sure you come back next week when we'll be rounding up another bunch of amazing mobile games that you should definitely be playing.

The new game from the developer of You Must Build a Boat is an absolute gut-punch of emotions in all the right ways. It's still a puzzle game, or more accurately it's five puzzle games wrapped into one narrative-driven package with a twist ending that's going to leave you breathless. We've already reviewed Photographs, so once you've read that, do yourself a favour and pick this one up right away - it really is that good.

Rolando: Royal Edition

A modern glimpse into the past. The App Store might have moved on a good deal since the original Rolando came out, but this remastering is slick, fun, and it's going to leave a smile on your face. We've reviewed Rolando: Royal Edition already, and you can read that review by clicking here. It's not the perfect mobile platformer, but there's so much going for the game it's difficult to hold that against it.

Cultist Simulator Mobile

Sometimes it can feel like there aren't enough simulator games for mobile. There are a few here and there, but they're either super casual or super ridiculous. Cultist Simulator isn't either of those things. It's an incredibly intelligent game about choices, life, and being a cultist. It's mainly about being a cultist, if we're honest, but it's also absolutely brilliant and much better than joining a cult in real life.

SpeedRunners

This one's a super-fast multiplayer platformer that sees you pelting it through a series of obstacle-packed levels. You're trying to be the last character left on the screen, darting past your opponents using jumps, slides, and a grappling hook you can latch onto them with. It's a racer, it's a brawler, and the bite-sized levels mean it fits perfectly in the palm of your hand.

Arena Stars

At first glance this might look like another Clash Royale clone, but dig a bit deeper and you'll discover a much more free-form experience. For one thing you're not trying to mash bases, you're trying to mash the other player's hero. You've got units to toss into the mix as well, and you can run about the arena to your heart's content with taps. The added freedom here adds different layers of tactical possibilities, and the violence is accessible enough that most people are going to be able to pick this one up and give it a play.
