The Switch is getting a bunch of mobile games this week, so it seems fair that mobile gets a Switch game - say hello to The Escapists 2, now with the added subtitle Pocket Breakout. It's the full game scaled-down for a smaller screen, but if that doesn't tickle your fancy, there's plenty more out there to play.

Indeed, it's that time of the week where we look at what's coming out on iOS and Android, sifting through the masses of games to find the true gems that need your attention - or your downloads, at least.

We'll cover as much as we can, but this is by no means a comprehensive list. Instead, we want to pick out games we know you'll love, or at least the ones that are big and important, alongside a few of the smaller games you may not have seen yet.

And we'll try to hit as many genres as we can, so there should be something here for everyone. But don't get mad if there's nothing you like! We are at the whims of the platform holders and developers just like you.

So, grab yourself a cuppa, get your mobile gaming device, and let's dig in and see what new games you can get for yourself this week. You never know, your next favourite game of all time may be hiding in amongst our list. And be sure to comment if you find someone which you do decide to pick up - we'd love to hear what's taken your fancy this week.

Spirit Roots

Available on: iOS (Android coming soon)
Price: $3.99/£3.99

App Store Description: "Spirit Roots is a traditional 2D platformer where you run, jump, fight, evade traps, collect coins, and beat bosses. With a stitched-together artwork, the visual will remind you of the scenes from the movie Coraline.

Long ago, on the outskirts of a small, but undoubtedly, very warlike star system, armed conflict raged for a hundred years among the system’s inhabitants.

The fighting was so fierce that in the end only one small piece remained of each of the planets. At that point, the inhabitants of all of the planets decided that they would have to stop fighting in order to survive. So, they stitched together the remaining pieces of their worlds into one large planet with a single, absolute condition: no one could violate anyone else’s borders.

But what happens when someone breaks this rule? Let’s find out!"

Roterra

Available on: iOS
Price: $4.99/£4.99

App Store Description: "Taking place on a beautifully designed world, Roterra invites players to guide charming characters around obstacles by rotating and sliding cubes – and even flipping the world on its head from time to time!

Literature enthusiasts will love how a 16th-century epic poem “Orlando Furioso” by Lodovico Ariosto, inspired the development of Roterra. The constantly shifting physical world of Roterra reflects the many conflicting points-of-view in the poem – including a protagonist, Angelica, who challenges medieval depictions of women as helpless accessories every step of the way."
