Old School RuneScape landed on mobile late last year, and people were super psyched to have such a gem of a game on a smaller screen for the first time. I know at least one person at Pocket Gamer Biz who's sunk more than her fair share of hours into it already.
And Jagex isn't stopping there - the first major new piece of content, the Kebos Lowlands, is being added to both versions of the game today. That's right, whether you're on PC or playing on mobile, you'll be able to explore the new area, grabbing new equipment and fighting new enemies as you go.
What can you expect from this new area? Well, there's the town of Brimstone, the aforementioned Lowlands, a "new slayer dungeon, a farming guild, two new novice quests, and brand-new rewards", according to the press release. Oh, and a multi-headed hydra to kill, which should be very cool.
More importantly, the Kebos Lowlands has received overwhelming support from the community. Everything added to Old School RuneScape has to go through the players first, and this new addition got a 95% approval rate from fans, so it's safe to say it'll be a popular new addition to the game.
Having played RuneScape about a decade ago, back when Old School RuneScape was just called RuneScape, it's been fascinating to see the new developments happening with the game. I'm intrigued to see where they go with it in the future, and how much bigger it can grow now that it's in the hands of a new audience/returning oldies like me.
Old School RuneScape is free-to-play, and you can grab it from the App Store or Google Play if you're not one of the five million people who already have. We recommend it too - we gave it a Gold Award at review, after all.
