Top 5 mobile games we're looking forward to in 2019
Elder Scrolls: Blades, Oceanhorn 2, and more
2018 has been a pretty stellar year for mobile games - just take a glance at our Advent Calendar and you'll see a raft of 24 fantastic titles from the year that all deserve a go.
From the big-budget titles like Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, and Asphalt 9: Legends, all the way to tiny indie efforts such as Florence, Alto's Odyssey, and Homo Machine, there's been something for everyone. And quite a lot of it has been bloody good to boot.
But we're headed into 2019 now, so let's stop thinking about the games we have played, and instead start looking ahead to the games we want to play on our tiny handheld devices.
We're going to nick a few of these from our Soft Launch list because, well, we can. If you want to keep an eye on the games of the future well before they get into your hands, do be sure to check out that list and check in each week for new titles as they're added.
With that out of the way, let's stop messing around. Here's five games we can't wait to play some time in the next year.

PUBG Mobile Lite
PUBG Mobile ended up being one of the biggest games of 2018 - even if Fortnite stole the spotlight with its cross-platform capabilities. But as a strictly mobile title, this one wins out hands down.
Not a fan of the long game? Don't worry, Tencent is working on PUBG Mobile Lite, a faster-paced outing with smaller maps and fewer people per match.
If it's as good as PUBG Mobile, then this may be perfect for folks looking to squeak in a few quick chicken dinners on the bus home.

Sky
Thatgamecompany are best knwon for games like Flow, Flower, and Journey on consoles, and they're finally bringing their expertise in emotional walking simulators to a mobile-first title - Sky.
This has been in soft launch for a while now, which is a little disconcerting - the longer something stays in soft launch, the less likely it is that the game will launch.
But we're hoping it does. It looks like a chilled out, slow-burn of a game, with gorgeous artwork and, if previous thatgamecompany releases are anything to go by, it'll just be sublime to play.

Tacticool
There's plenty of shooters on mobile, but very few that have been truly designed with the platform in mind. And then there's Tacticool.
A 5v5 top-down shooter, it works surprisingly well on a small screen, with simple touch-based controls and fast-paced matches for all to enjoy.
It'll hopefully see a worldwide release soon, and when it does we'll definitely be giving it plenty of attention.

Elder Scrolls: Blades
Elder Scrolls: Blades looks absolutely gorgeous and near-perfect for mobile. If the very fact that you're going to be playing an Elder Scrolls game on your phone isn't enough for you, then perhaps you have no soul.
If only we knew a little more about what it really entails. You can expect dungeon-crawling and monster-bashing, but will we be putting arrows in knees? Can we join the Thieves Guild? Only time will tell.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm
The original Oceanhorn took its cues from early Legend of Zelda games , and now Oceanhorn 2 is taking a leaf out of later Zelda titles for its inspiration.
Expect huge dungeons, third-person combat, and exploration around a gorgeous world. The controls also perfectly fit mobile devices - even though it's being designed for multiple consoles. That's dedication.
Keep an eye on this one. It's definitely going to be a good 'un.
