StarCraft is one of the most iconic RTS games of all time, and remains one of the peak achievements of the genre. Of course we'd want some of that on mobile.
It's admittedly a very complicated, multi-layered experience, but it remains a fun experience even if you're not exactly a tactical genius.
Company of Heroes
There have been two Company of Heroes games released in 12 years, with a third announced recently. Relic Entertainment's achievement in these World War 2-set games was making every one of your units feel valuable.
We'd love this deeply tactical series to come to mobile in some form, whether that's as a port or an original mobile-focused spin-off.
Relic Entertainment was also responsible for this wonderful sci-fi RTS. Homeworld is noted for the way it allows epic battles to unfold on fully 3D battlefields.
We're talking capital ships, fighter squadrons and the like exchanging laser fire in the voids of space. You'd need a meaty iPad Pro to do this one justice, you feel.
We wer umming ahhing over including Total Annihilation in this list. But instead let's go with Chris Taylor's spiritual successor, Supreme Commander.
It took TA's technically impressive (for the time) sci-fi battles and scaled them up. Whether that scale could be made to work on a mobile (or more likely tablet) screen, we're not so sure. But we'd love to see someone try.
