The Pokemon Company is staffing up for a mysterious new mobile game
What could it be?
After the incredible success of Pokemon Duel, Pokemon Shuffle, and, uh, Magikarp Jump, it comes as no surprise that The Pokemon Company is gearing up for yet another mobile game.
A job listing on LinkedIn for a principal game designer also let slip that the upcoming title will be using the Unity engine. Game Informer claims that this would be the first Pokemon Company-developed title to use the engine since the tablet-only Pokemon Trading Card game.
Naturally, this has got people thinking that the unannounced title could well be a mobile port of PTCG. And, considering how lucrative but crowded the mobile TCG market currently is, it would be interesting to see whether Pokemon could succeed in the face of such stiff competition.
That said, I'm almost certain that The Pokemon Company has used Unity for basically all its 3D mobile games, which means this next game could literally be anything. But rumours shall be rumours.
Pokemon as a brand just keeps getting larger and larger, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see The Pokemon Company continue to double down on its mobile titles, crossovers, and ports. Really, it just means more Pokemon games for us, which could surely only be a good thing.
