Serious Scramblers, which has just landed on the App Store and the Google Play Store, is a bit like a midcore version of Downwell. It doesn't have the chops of that downwards roguelike classic though, but it does provide some quick-fire arcade action all the same.

You've only got two controls here - tap on the left of the screen and you'll move to the left, tap on the right and, you guessed it, you move to the right. Each level in the game is made up of a series of platforms, and you need to move down them avoiding the obstacles that the game throws in your way.

There are platforms that turn into spikes when you stand on them for too long, platforms that disappear, and plenty of monsters that you can kill by landing on their heads, but that'll take you down if they hit you with any other part of their body.

It's pretty challenging, and there are some spiky difficulty spikes that do make things a bit annoying when you hit them. For the most part though this is a game you're going to focus in on for short bursts, getting a new high score and then leaving it until you've got another brief moment to spend playing.

If any of that has made you want to download Serious Scramblers, you can do just that by clicking here if you're an iPhone or iPad gamer. Or, if you want to play on your Android device, click here to pick it up from the Google Play Store.
