Bacon Escape 2 has just come out for iPhone and iPad, and I'll be honest it has no right being as good as it is. It's a single-finger auto-runner, but it's got a wonderful twist at its core that means you're going to get tangled into its tale of a pig that's trying to get away from its inevitable horrible fate.

Rather than making the little piggy jump, you're manipulating the world around it instead. There are coloured sections on the levels that change when you tap on the screen. Or at least a tap is all you need to start off with. It's not long before things get a little more interesting.

The game introduces new types of moving platform the deeper you get. First it's all about how the platforms move. Then it's about how you move the platforms. Red ones need you to push on the screen, and when you lift your finger they'll start to head back to their original position.

There's a feeling of the Trials series here, albeit a more gentle and less physics-based version. It's a case of remembering what you have to do, when you have to do it, and making sure you get as many secrets as you can.

This is one of those games that's snuck out without much fanfare, but it's definitely worth your time. It'll put a pretty big smile on your face as well. And if you'd like life a bit better with a grin, you can grab it from the App Store right now for nothing by clicking right here.
