Fuschia GO Park
The first step you'll need to take in order to get either Meltan or Melmetal is visiting the Fuschia GO Park and linking your Pokémon GO account to your Nintendo Switch.
Once you've done that and transferred a few Pokémon, you'll magically - and mysteriously - have a brand new item in your inventory.
This is how you'll catch your first - and not your last - Meltan.

Mystery Box
The Mystery Box when opened doesn't contain items, instead it contains an incense-like mist that will surround you, and begin a 30 minute countdown.
During this time, Meltan will spawn around you and exclusively you. Yep, they will just show up, ripe for catching, plenty of them.
You only have half an hour to catch them, so keep your app open and grab as many as you can while you can. Your Mystery Box won't last forever…

400 candy Melmetal
While catching the Meltan, make sure to be using Pinap berries. Pinaps double the amount of candy you get from catching Pokémon.
This is useful, as you can only evolve Meltan in Melmetal in Pokémon GO. That's right. And it costs 400 candy. A lot of candy.
Using Pinaps will take you from 3 candy per catch to 6, and an extra for any Meltan you transfer to the professor.

And back again
Once you've caught Meltan, you can transfer it to the GO Park just like any other Pokémon.
It all sounds easy, right? Too easy. Getting Meltan might be simple, but Melmetal is a different beast entirely.
You see, you can only use the Mystery Box once a week. You have to wait seven days for it cooldown, and it'll need to be connected to Pokémon Let's Go again to activate. Yep, getting Melmetal won't be that easy, but once you have him, you can transfer him back to Pokémon Let's Go and see him in full 3D glory.
