[UPDATED] The Eevee Tamagotchi is real and it arrives in January

The official Tamagotchi website has confirmed the Eevee Tamagotchi that we heard rumour of just a few days ago. The two different varieties will be arriving in Japan on January 26, 2019 and will retail for 2,300 yen, or approximately £16. There’s no news yet of an English version.

The official website confirms that your Eevee will be able to evolve into all eight of its current evolutionary forms. However, three other forms are also being teased. These could very well be the Ditto, Team Rocket, and another mystery version that sees Eevee with some flowers pinned to its ear. If players want their Eevee to evolve, they’ll need to feed their pet special Pokemon food and tend to any hairball situations that might arise (yes, really).

The original story continues below.

Pokemon could be making the jump to a new mobile platform if new rumours hold any weight. The long-standing Pokemon fansite Serebii is reporting that Eevee might be getting its own official Tamagotchi sometime in the near future.

The rumour comes from a Japanese promotional sheet depicting the as yet unannounced toy, which was first found on Japanese image boards. It looks as though fans will have two different cases to choose from - the brown I Love Eevee version and a Colorful Friends version that features all eight evolved forms around the case of the device.

All of Eevee’s eight evolved forms will make an appearance, and you’ll be able to unlock different outfits for your Eevee as well. The image showcases Team Rocket, Ditto, and what we would guess to be an Alolan outfit.

The promo sheet lists no source, so this is very much unconfirmed information for now. If an Eevee Tamagotchi does indeed exist, it could very well announced around the time Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! arrive next week.
